Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit 2024

Not all héros wear capes. Most wear corporate-casual. In 2024, the Carbon Market Institute focused on the administrative side of the climate emergency.

↳ Task

Each year the Carbon Market Institute hosts the Australasian Emissions Reduction Summit, with a different theme and focus for each event. This year’s theme is Accelerating Policy and Investment. Perhaps not the sexiest side of climate change, but undoubtedly the most important. We were tasked with developing the hero animation and graphic for use in the 2024 Summit and key collateral items for Carbon Market Institute.

↳ Design Solution

While previous years leaned heavily on visuals depicting the environment and natural imagery, we opted for a different approach, embracing a more administrative aesthetic. Our visual direction centered around the depiction of pie charts filling at an accelerating pace. This choice symbolised not only acceleration and investment but also, perhaps more significantly, the passage of time. The accelerating filling of the pie charts conveyed a sense of urgency and the need for timely action, highlighting the importance of making strategic decisions amidst rapidly changing circumstances.
